It’s a well-known fact that our eyes are one of the first places to exhibit signs of ageing. Crow’s feet often become our first permanent wrinkles, and dark pigmentation displays signs of too much work and not enough sleep. There are, of course, expensive relatively long-term solutions like plastic surgery, but many people aren’t aware of some cheap, easy little hacks that can be achieved at home to hide these annoying signs of ageing…

Contour and Highlight

Contouring became extremely popular after Kim Kardashian’s chiselled appearance dazzled glossy magazines around the world. Most people only use it as an illusion to enhance cheek bones and minimise double chins. But contouring and highlighting can be a great trick for brightening up the eyes and hiding dark circles.
Use a liquid concealer that is a shade or two lighter than your foundation and draw a line straight down from the inside of each eye and then diagonally across to the outside of your eye and fill in the whole area. You can also use a highlighter a shade lighter than the concealer on your tear ducts to hide any signs of discolouration.

If you also contour the top lid of your eyes, it will add to the overall effect. Use a matte brown eye shadow and draw a line from the outer edge of your eye up to the crease above the eyelid and then blend it inwards and down along the crease.

Blue Mascara

This quick, easy hack is a perfect option for people who are developing yellow tones in the whites of their eyes. The colour blue counteracts yellow and makes it appear whiter, and the mascara doesn’t even have to look blue when it’s on. Use a navy colour, and it will look black once applied, but it will still brighten the eyes. You can even opt to use it over the top of a black mascara on your top lashes and on its own on your bottom lashes.

Nude Eyeliner

The old trick of using white eyeliner on your waterline to make your eyes appear wider and brighter has been updated. If you use nude eyeliner, instead of white, it will look a lot less harsh and will also minimise the appearance of redness in the eyes, which can make you look fatigued.

Eye Perfecting Cream

Makeup will only get you so far when it comes to anti-ageing eye hacks. The best thing to do is to take preventative measures to slow down the signs of ageing. Start by introducing an eye serum to your skincare routine. Nuriss’s vitamin-infused and mineral-rich Eye Perfection Contouring Cream is a nourishing product that reduces the appearance of dark circles, puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles. It should be used morning and night and should go straight onto the skin surrounding the eyes – not on top of your moisturiser.

Peptide Lash Booster

Nothing says youthful eyes like thick, curly eyelashes. Nuriss’s Peptide Lash Booster is a technologically-advanced formula that combines peptides and grape stem cell, which act synergistically to boost the lashes, making them longer, fuller and thicker.
Nuriss is a leading skincare centre with two clinics in the heart of London. There are a number of treatments available to reduce the signs of ageing on the skin, from chemical peels to laser therapy. If you’d like to discuss treatment options to suit your needs, book a consultation with one of our medically-trained skin doctors.
